More distractions

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I have to apologise that I just can’t get my act together. I haven’t been sewing flowers, photographing clips, making pendants … any of the things I should be doing. I know I will make myself pull together soon, but right now I lack the motivation and the means. Mastitis, a rather nasty eBay dispute, not coping in general – it’s all these things – but mainly it’s the lack of sleep. I can’t blame Harry though, most nights he only wakes once. But I can’t sleep. I can’t relax. Today I have the rare occasion that both monsters are napping at the same time, and I’m so tired my eyes hurt, yet I still can’t sleep. And if I didn’t still have some meals prepared for me, I’m not sure I’d be eating half as well as I have been. Sometimes it seems life passes me by on Facebook.

I’m thankful for Blythe here. It’s been a pleasant distraction in an unpleasant time. I’ve been practising customising on Basaaks (Blythe clones) before I get a real Blythe to make my own. And it’s a good thing I did because I already broke the eye mechanism on a Basaak.

Here’s my newest work:

My customised Basaak

I guess this is very literally plastic surgery! She has been sand-matted, lips and nose carved, new eyelashes and new makeup. I’m really happy with how she’s turned out. I think I can tackle a real Blythe now – just have to find one to do!

BTW – Happy Chinese New Year for Thursday! Perhaps this would be my opportunity to try and turn a new leaf.

Meet Willow

This is Willow. She is my custom Prima Dolly Aubrey from Japan, a lovely gift from Hubby.

Meet Willow

Unfortunately, she had a bit of a nicotine addiction problem! That’s the one thing I keep forgetting about Japan when I remember it. The smell came out of her hair and outfit quite easily but was absolutely impregnated into her soft rubbery legs! So I’ve actually switched her body to a Pure Neemo Flection S, which has joints!

And why haven’t I reopened my webstore for the year?

This is why:

Rose (custom basaak)

Sorry I got a bit distracted! Whilst I love Blythes, I can’t bear to take one apart so I have attempted a custom Basaak doll here. She bears a striking resemblance to Blythe, but with clearly inferior quality (hence the much cheaper $30US pricetag). The eyes and the body are immediate giveaways. So I took her apart, sanded down the face, ‘carved’ her lips and redid her makeup. I have also swapped her original body for a Pure Neemo Flection XS body here. I can’t wait to start another!

Picture Perfect!

I’m still recovering from this nasty bout of mastitis (3 courses of antibiotics!), so things have been a bit quiet around here lately. But for your viewing pleasure, here are some lovely pics taken by Mel Chun Tie Photography over the Christmas break – and a big thanks to our lovely models, Lily & Jelly.

I’m a bit behind schedule … or would be if I had actually set myself one. And if I had been the type of person that generally makes New Year’s resolutions, that probably should have been one of them. Most people think I am very organised. I can be very organised, but most of the time, it’s not so much as planning ahead as it is a control-freakish-panic-attack episode. So I’m generally not a last-minute person because I have my panic attacks well before deadline. And stuff does get done.

The New Year’s break has been eventful in nice and not-so-nice ways. Indy’s grown so much – become so much more talkative (if only I knew what she was saying) – and so much more difficult (why won’t you sleep!?!). She thinks the Harajuku Girls perfumes I got for Christmas are cats!

Indy thinks these are cats!

Harry’s become a mini Ninja Daddy but a lot more serious. Who knew a little baby could vomit so much that he’d go through all my nursing tops before I was out the front door?

Ninja Daddy & Harry

I got a bucketload of Blythe clothes, thanks to my folks who went to Hong Kong …

This used to be a makeup traincase but now it's filled with my Blythe wardrobe

In honour of hubby's current fave movie, I am renaming my Blythe with ever-changing hair to Ramona.

… cut 32 cm off my hair (it was falling out or I wouldn’t have) …

… and mastitis (see, that’s the bad bit). And wow it’s pretty painful. Would probably been less so if I had connected the dots sooner and realised my cough/runny nose and my rock-hard boob was related.

So now it’s 2011 … and I’m already behind (got a bit side-tracked by my own rambling). I have cut – none – of the fabric I set aside to cut but I’m pretty close to finalising the new blossom sets and rosette headbands. Here’s a sneak peak, thanks to Mel Chun Tie Photography. Lots more to come!
